A new design of the superyacht takes the concept of electric vessels to the next level. Designed by the Barcelona-based studio Hidden Portside, Naboo, as its name suggests, is an electric superyacht inspired by Star Wars. What is special about Naboo is the fact that it is not only powered by an electric drive, but also strengthens the solar panels.
In the Star Wars universe, Nabu, best known as the home planet of Padme Amidala and Palpatine, is a green and pristine oasis. The design studio bases its sustainable yacht concept, which is lush with Naboo greenery due to these features.
Visionary and sustainable superyacht
The 164 feet (50 m) Naboo has round lines that enhance the essence of the yacht. With a “ring concept” and open living spaces, the yacht has a non-linear flow that contrasts with traditional designs. The studio tried to build a more spacious and natural environment, avoiding the corridors as much as possible.
On the first level, in the center of the yacht, is a large courtyard that stretches over 1,000 square feet (92 square meters) and includes a lush green vertical garden that connects all three decks. According to the studio, this central garden creates an atmosphere in which the sea, the sky and the guests thrive together. It also has a lobby and bar, and the patio has folding platforms on the sides that offer easy access to the water.
The middle deck boasts a cool open kitchen, where passengers can watch their food being prepared, a nature club intertwined in nature, full of a luxurious jacuzzi and a bar. Tired? You can choose one of four cabins that can accommodate eight guests.
The upper deck, which looks like a bridge, is where the rudder and captain’s cabin are located. The main cabin is also on this deck, along with a 355-foot (108-meter) private terrace and another jacuzzi.
The founders of the Hidden Portside design studio say: “Not only were we looking for innovations in style and aesthetics, but also, above all, in the way the boat lived, in the way the boat was used and in the experience we wanted to offer.” in a press release shared with IE. The concept expresses a unique vision while contrasting with the conceptual monotony that surrounds the seascape.
But she is not just a beautiful face. Naboo combines luxury with sustainability in beautiful harmony. With the promise of zero emissions, Naboo operates on clean energy only and sails the seas without harming the environment. The idea of luxury is conveyed by the atmosphere that is created through the intelligent use of resources. In addition to the use of an electric drive system and solar power panels, the shiny yacht also has a hull made of recycled materials such as aluminum and synthetic teak.
The stylish yacht has even been modified to avoid excessive use of air conditioning in the dream of environmentalists. To maintain a stable temperature, the studio uses intelligent materials such as PCM (Phase Change Phase) and metal and ultra-reflective paint, which can radiate or absorb heat if needed.
While almost everyone from global transport energy comes from petroleum based fuels which contribute significantly to carbon emissions by choosing green concepts like Naboo compared to its gas counterparts can help reduce the effects of climate change on the environment.
