Can a high-speed rail line save the United States from dependence on fossil fuels?

Trains have come a long way in the last few years, implementing them futuristic technologies which are sure to impress. What they have not yet been able to do successfully is replace cars.

Now a railway company hopes its trains will help. Brightline is investing in five new trains, which it hopes will put the consumer experience first and help transform car enthusiasts.

“We’re trying to get people to think differently about what it’s like to ride a train,” said Mike Reininger, CEO of Brightline. Fast company. “The real goal here is to change people’s behavior.”

Brightline is targeting destinations that are “too far to drive, too short to fly,” Reininger said. Therefore, it builds routes between places that are about 300 miles (482 km) apart.

Its first route is a connection between Miami and West Palm Beach, which is about 104 kilometers. Brightline’s new trains offer many benefits such as high-speed internet, lots of chargers, more comfortable sleeping areas and larger tables for laptops, but will that be enough to tempt travelers?

Because Brightline is a privately funded company, it needs people to buy seats on its newly developed advanced trains to survive. To achieve this goal, the company has been working with Siemens over the last decade to develop a new and more optimized, user-friendly train design.

Sleeping trains have already been advertised as a viable alternative to expensive flights. Can the same be true for Brightline trains and cars?

There are many advantages to using trains to certain destinations, such as no need to find a parking space, avoid the exhaustion of driving, and even the ability to relax and work until you reach your destination. If Brightline makes trains that make all of these options possible, they could become the future of destinations in their target 300 miles.

And it seems that Brightline really offers all these added benefits and innovations. “We thought about every little detail of the guests’ experiences,” Reininger concluded.
