When Apple unveiled the new iPhone 13s, it was announced that Apple would give every phone a battery size. On paper, the iPhone 13 comes with a 3,227mAh battery compared to the iPhone 13 Pro which has its 3,100mAh battery. In theory, this should mean the iPhone 13 will last longer than its Pro sibling, right?
However, it turns out that’s not the case, and it looks like ProMotion should be thankful for that. For those unfamiliar, ProMotion is the Apple name given to the 120Hz display. You might think that getting a quick update means more battery usage, but that’s not the case. That’s because Apple’s ProMotion display is very powerful, which means it will start from 10Hz to 120Hz depending on what’s going on.
This means that while the phone doesn’t need an instantaneous frequency, it can go as low as 10Hz to prove its superior power output. This was witnessed in the battery test by PhoneBuff where they compared the battery life between the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro and found that the 13 Pro was better than the iPhone 13.
The difference in battery life is not much. All 16 phones were operated on standby, with 9 hours and 42 minutes for the iPhone 13, and 9 hours and 51 minutes for the iPhone 13 Pro. While there aren’t many differences, those considering the iPhone 13 Pro don’t have to worry about the small size of the difference on the larger battery.
