And even if The Rock and Ryan Reynolds officially let us go these days, uh, Red notice, the fact that two of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars wore velvet at the same premiere (on purpose!) only confirms the soft-to-the-touch wave. Daniel Craig, Jonathan Majers and Jeffrey Wright all wore velvet at Connection premiere back in September. We’ve only seen it in the last few weeks Penn Bajley in a merlot suit Jimmy Kimmel, Wes Anderson in cocoa brown at The French dispatch prime minister and damn it Prince William in emerald number …with a turtleneck.
That’s the thing: the formula is simple, but the options are somehow endless. When it comes to velvet, the color seems to be vaguely edible, mineral or otherwise botanical – raspberry, salmon, sapphire, ruby, forest, sage. You can only calm down with a colorful jacket, like Craig at the Connection premiere or go all-in with a three-piece suit, like Reynolds last night. Ties, socks and top buttons of choice. Then you just have to find a red carpet to stand on. (Oh, right – bonus points if you match the red carpet!)
