Brendan Kamm, co-founder and CEO of Thnks, explains why saying “Thank you”

The science behind Thnks is deeper than a simple “thank you”. Use gratitude as a tool to deepen relationships, build lasting relationships, and promote a better work experience. Saying “thank you” is a natural response for many of us in social interactions, much like saying “have a good day” or “how are you”. But how many times does it mean when people say these things? In life, I think gratitude is one of the most important things to show in any kind of relationship. In business, it still rarely appears among professionals. Showing gratitude or appreciation is a proven way to establish stronger relationships in a business context by increasing sales prospecting, increasing customer retention, or motivating employees. We’ve recently surpassed the milestone of sending more than a million “thank you” customers to our customers, and I’m proud because it supports the way we are helping to make gratitude in the workplace a daily habit.

You have a background in sales and customer relationship management. How did that affect your thinking about Thnks?

My background as a sales executive really opened my eyes to the lack of gratitude for business and as a result, relationships were becoming transactional and pure suffering. I knew there had to be a better and more scalable way to help people show appreciation and establish stronger connections using the tremendous technological tools we have available today.

Thnks took you from New York City to Nashville. What prompted this movement, and why especially Nashville?

Thnks has seen tremendous growth, especially in the last two years. This growth prompted us to explore the best place we thought our firm roots were as a business. Our culture is a priority for our mission and Nashville’s reputation for hospitality, gratitude and reflection seemed very appropriate to our company. Nashville is a growing technology hub, a city known for its thriving creative and entrepreneurial scene and a growing city in its own right. Our headquarters are located south of Nashville in the city of Franklin, a wonderful place to grow our business further.
