The options can seem endless when it comes to designing engagement rings, making it almost impossible to choose the style you love. But if you are the type of bride who is looking for something a little outside the traditional realm of engagement rings, you have come to the right place.
We talked to an independent jewelry brand Cat bird, whose marketing manager, Sria Karumanci, said: “Over the last few years, we have seen people really embrace rings with unexpected stones and cuts, quite a significant departure from the rings focused on the white diamond center stone. Opals, emeralds, deep sapphires and gray diamonds in an unconventional setting are some of our most popular this year. “
We notice a main trend in ring design who prefer the unexpected and the non-standard to the perfectly symmetrical. While design elements such as clear diamonds and symmetrical settings have long been standard on engagement rings, many brides are changing the way they determine the value of an engagement ring. “I think the point of view has changed. The value of the ring should not come only from a set of rules set by the jewelry industry – cut, purity, carat and color are common, “explains Karumanchi. “The value is rooted in what you hold in the piece. It could be from the sense of family heritage or maybe a special stone and motif that really spoke to you when you tried the ring.”
Instead of simple layouts, below you will find ornate settings of rings inspired by retro. Instead of ordinary diamonds, you will see saturated colors instead round or square cut stones, these are the unexpected shapes you will find on the following unique engagement rings.
