We all love rocket launches, but we have to admit that so far there is not much variety in the way these crafts are fired. That may soon change …
YouTuber Scott Manley leads us the story of Spinlaunch, a company that plans to send rockets into space by rotating them.
“I was talking about Spinlaunch a few years ago, they wanted to reduce the cost of launching into space by ejecting launch vehicles from a rotating hypersonic launcher. “I was somewhat skeptical about the chances of solving the engineering problems inherent in this, but recently they demonstrated a Mach 1 launch using their 1/3 scale launcher, so they are already making progress in developing a viable launch system,” he said. Manley in his video description.
What are the engineering problems behind such a system? Better yet, what is the science, engineering and technology behind Spinlaunch? What upgrades to your original system did you have to do to demonstrate the start of Match 1?
What is their 1/3 scale starter and how do they use it? What is the future of Spinlaunch and how scalable is their technology? This video answers all these questions and more and offers you footage from Rotation technology in action.
