Build your own Darth Vader-shaped barbecue with metal pieces

As you can imagine, you will need some tools and materials before you start.

With all your equipment in hand, now is the time to actually get stuck.

Step 1: Prepare the main body of the barbecue

The first step is to pick up your old expansion vessel. Remove the legs and other fixtures on the outside and then burn the paint to expose the bare metal.

When you’re done, mark the basic design of Vader’s mask on the cylinder and cut as needed. After doing this, create a few legs from more metal scrap and weld them to the base.

Then add an axle and wheels to the front two legs.

With more metal scrap, make the main grill for Vader’s mask and weld it in place of the main barbecue, if necessary. Then mark and cut a section around the front grill to create an access panel for the barbecue.

Fasten the hinge as needed. After doing this, add more details to Vader’s face such as the nose guard, mask cheeks, etc.

Step 2: Complete the basic design

Then take your old hot water cylinder, remove the insulation and cut off the top and bottom, removing the heating elements inside. Cut the remaining cylinder in half, mark and cut the shape of the rear guard on Vader’s neck.

Weld and rivet this in place to the back of the helmet, if necessary.

For other details, such as the forehead and the main coat of arms of the helmet, make fun of the design with the help of cardboard. Transfer the designs to some scrap sheets and cut them out if necessary.

Weld them in place on the main helmet, if necessary. Then design, build and weld the top handle for the “lid” of the barbecue.

Also, make another carrying handle to mount on the back of the main door guard.

With the exterior design basically finished, we can now complete the interior. Cut off the top of the helmet completely to make the “lid” of the barbecue. then add a few reinforcing rings to the main body and cover.

Add a little mesh to the back of the main grille of the mask and eye sockets and create a shelf for welding between the legs. Then design and build a flue for the top of the barbecue lid as needed and install.

Step 3: Paint the piece

Once the basic design is complete, we can complete the aesthetics of the barbecue. Take some heat-resistant black paint and paint the piece inside and out.

Make sure you disassemble the main parts of the barbecue first.

Using a roller or paint by hand. Allow all the pieces to dry completely.

Once dry, reassemble the barbecue if necessary. Then either use an existing grill or create a new one for the top of the barbecue.
