The UN is eligible for an $ 6 billion donation to Elon Musk to address global hunger

A few weeks after Tesla CEO Elon Musk challenged the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to state publicly how he planned to spend donations and save millions from starvation, WFP responded and returned the ball to Musk’s field, as publication of details he had to make a donation.

The WFP highlights the plight of millions of people at risk of starvation and called on billionaires around the world to donate a small portion of their profits. Musk had said then that he would be glad to help the reason if the UN publishes how it plans to spend the money. It may take some time for WFP, but it is now publishing a breakdown of the $ 6.6 billion it is seeking.

According to the WFP website, about $ 3.5 billion, or just over half of the money, will be spent on providing food to people and delivering it. WFP plans to use different modes of transport to ensure last-mile delivery, even including security escorts in conflict regions.

The next two billion dollars are reserved for food and cash vouchers for areas where markets are still open. This, according to the WFP, will not only allow people to buy food of their choice, but will also help local economies in the affected areas. Another $ 700 million is to be spent nationally to build facilities to monitor the aid distributed, and the remaining $ 400 million to manage operations and payments to independent auditors to monitor the program.

WFP chief David Beasley also took to Twitter and tagged Musk, reiterating his call to contribute to the cause.

Continuing on the topic, Beasley named five countries, which represent almost 50 percent of the people that WFP plans to help with these funds, saying that the situation of people in these countries is worse than what one can imagine.

Beasley went on to say that WFP takes transparency and accountability very seriously and is already making its mark. “financial statements, operational plans, audits and annual reports ”in the public space. Then he shared a link to a page on the WFP website published earlier this month and links to a series of reports published by the WFP regarding its operations and costs.

Musk had asked for sunlight on how the WFP planned to spend the money, and the UN body provided it. Now it’s up to Musk to keep his word. He has already sold part of his shares to Tesla and has money in hand.

What else does he want after that, the results of a survey on Twitter? Oh wait, Musk makes decisions first and then set up a poll.
