A floating city? Saudi Arabia is building the largest maritime industrial site in the world

Saudi Arabia announced this week the construction of an eight-sided city called OXAGON, which will float on the Red Sea and be governed solely by clean energy, according to a press release. It will be located at the end of a new region called NEOM, which seeks to redefine the way humanity lives and works in the future, providing a more sustainable alternative to our current way of life.

OXAGON will embody the principles of life in harmony with nature and will be one of the most technological logistics centers in the world with the most modern integrated connectivity of ports and airports. It will do all this with net zero carbon emissions as it will be powered by 100% clean energy, setting a global example for the adoption of clean technologies and environmental sustainability.

The city will also be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies currently in place, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), man-machine synthesis, artificial and predictable intelligence and robotics. It will serve seven clean energy-only industries, which are sustainable energy, autonomous mobility, water innovation, sustainable food production, health and well-being, technology and digital production (including telecommunications, space technology and robotics) and modern construction methods. .

However, the press release does not specify how much it will cost to build this extremely futuristic city. However, he mentioned that the city will work closely with NEOM to provide all its services. The project reminds of another zero-carbon city that the kingdom is building called the Line.
