NASA has just launched a spacecraft to crash into an asteroid and change its trajectory

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has successfully completed the launch of Dual Asteroid Redirection Mission (DART), CNN reported.

The mission was launched aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket at 1:21 a.m. ET from the Vandenberg Space Force base in California. The goal of the mission is a small moon, 525 feet (160 m) in diameter, orbiting a terrestrial asteroid called Didim.

The mission is expected to crash in September 2022.
