A fire at the Listvyazhnaya coal mine near Kemerovo in Russian Siberia killed 11 miners and captured many others.
Local authorities and emergency services said a rescue operation was under way and more than 239 of the 285 miners had been rescued.
According to Sputnik, The regional governor of Kemerovo Sergey Tsivilev announced that nine miners were killed and 44 were injured in the incident, two of whom are in critical condition. The rescue operation continues to rescue the remaining 46 miners from the mine. Tsivilev also said that communication with the captured miners had been lost.
